It is imperative that the government of Ontario take action against climate change.
The purpose of the Green Energy Act is to facilitate the development of a sustainable energy economy that protects the environment while streamlining the approvals process and mitigates climate change. It is imperative that Ontario not scrap but enhance and broaden the Green Energy Act. We are already seeing the consequences of 1°C of global warming through more extreme weather, rising sea levels and diminishing Arctic sea ice. The Shocking IPCC report released Oct 8 2018 reveals the reality of climate change if a 1.5 degree target is not achieved. All levels of government need to heed this report.
Canada is a signatory to the Paris Climate Accord. This is an international legally binding document and Ontario must lower our carbon foot print and The Ontario Clean Energy Act is an excellent way to achieve these goals.
