The money collected from the cap and trade program should be used accountably to fund climate action Environmental Commissioner’s Report https://eco.on.ca/reports/2018-climate-action-in-ontario/

It is urgent that we act on climate change: ipcc report https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/07/climate/ipcc-climate-report-2040.html. We need to keep global temperatures below 1.5°C - significantly more catastrophic effects even with incremental temperature increases (fire, flood, food shortage, heat etc.).

We need legally-binding emissions targets based on science, accountably measured & reported Environmental Commissioner’s report, https://eco.on.ca/reports/2018-climate-action-in-ontario

Carbon pricing is effective, cap & trade or fee & dividend. It was enabling & mobilizing Ontario’s climate plan. The Nobel Prize went to an American economist who has shown the efficacy of carbon pricing https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/08/business/economic-science-nobel-priz…

Here is the cost of inaction: rising fire management, extreme weather events, social cost of carbon, health impacts of air pollution, lack of work productivity, damages from storms, biodiversity loss, food shortages

Here is the economic benefit of action: Ontario is already a leader in clean technology, energy efficiency programs create jobs and GDP growth, green industry is a huge & growing industry. We want to be leaders not laggards in green technology and green industry.

Indigenous/First Nations projects and community-controlled energy projects are important and many were cancelled. eco.on.ca/reports/2018-climate-action-in-ontario/)
