As a resident of Ontario, I can only count myself as extremely lucky to have not experienced the catastrophic impacts that the changing climate has had on our world. The hurricanes that plague the South-western coast of the United States are too-close examples of how damaging inaction can be. We cannot survive the reversal of environmental regulations such as the cancellation of Cap and Trade. The recent conclusion made by the IPCC that we have as little as 12 years to reduce our carbon and greenhouse gas emissions by 40% minimum in order to maintain a minor level of stability is terrifying, the thought that we are cancelling this bill is even worse. Please consider that humanity should never outweigh greed, and that lending more handouts to coal and natural gas corporations is not going to allow humanity to flourish past the next two decades. This is the time to decide how the course of human history goes, and if we do not implement a fair switch to energy efficient or renewable energy based homes, cars, and businesses, I'm afraid we are doomed.
