The impact of man-made activities on the health of our planet, the wellbeing of global societies and our livelihoods here in Ontario is becoming more dangerous and more urgent. Man's effect on climate change is undeniable.

As one of the world's leading and most prosperous industrial areas, we in Ontario have an obligation to act to reduce human greenhouse gas emissions. We should be leaders in climate action and the development of innovative, clean technologies so that we can profit from the global need for sustainable solutions.

The cap and trade program not only gave polluters a financial incentive to clean up their emissions (which is arguably the only way organizations with a financial imperative to make a profit will ever seriously act to reduce their emissions) also created a fund that provided much needed investment in Ontario businesses that were developing skills and jobs in cleantech.

The cancellation of Ontario's Cap and Trade Act, without a replacement plan, seems purely politically motivated and disregards the significance of the cleantech jobs in Ontario the fund helped to create and the wellbeing of our population as, without the act, we will inevitably end up breathing more poisonous CO2 and doing more harm to the natural eco-system in our province.
