The Cap and trade system currently implemented in Ontario is a valuable tool in the fight against climate change and a costed, efficient addition to out collective efforts to meet Ontario's emission reduction targets.
Not only has this program raised funds for green investment, research and incentives, it has also fostered trust and built hope by integrating itself into the larger carbon credit market shared by Quebec and California.
This plan to make polluters pay at a provincial across the board level is an effective and fair plan to reduce CO2 emissions while funding the progress that will lead this province and this country away from the high carbon economy.
The shortsighted plan to remove the cap and trade system to save citizens money will be more than offset by the increased cost from taxes and insurance that will be needed to address the aftermath of this plan.
Ontarios cap and trade system is being undermined for short term political gain at the expense of of environment and all who live in it.
I implore this government to reconsider this bill and to keep, if not strengthen our current emissions reduction regime.
