Comments on the Draft Bait policy:

2.1 We would like to see Sucker minnows struck, removed from the list, they are capable of growing to large fish, eat spawn and other minnows, and become invasive in small lakes where fishing used to be fine for other species. 2.2 Possession limits are too high, no one needs 120 of any bait,.they will die, not stored properly, cut possession limits to half, 5 doz. is quite adequate. Disagree that 60 t0 80% of anglers use live bait, leeches and worms are a live bait and a fine alternative to minnows. 4.2.1 Agree with the recommendations of bait and harvesting in parks, somewhat, but the no harvest should include Designated Tourism Lakes as well, D>T>L. where Tourism Outfitters promote "catch and release, catch and consume" depend on fine fishing for guests, promoting a sustainable fishery and contributing to the Tourism industry in Ontario, We should also look at only leeches and worms for live bait, follow Manitoba and B.C. policy. 4.2.3 the phase out on harvesting in parks, and special areas should be immediate, 5 years is too long. 5.0 Agree with personal harvest recommendations, locals harvesting, moving, transporting minnows is out of control in Northeastern Ontario. the general public doesn't even know an accepted minnow, harvest bass minnows, now small mouthed bass are in 80% of our lakes?
