Greetings Ontario Government:
Point #1
The new report dated Oct 8, 2018 from the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is new information (see attached link). Since it is new information, you are therefore entitled to change your original position in June 2018 on scrapping the carbon tax/cap and trade in Ontario.
This is not a betrayal of what you ran on in the election. Instead it is clearly “responding to new information (ie. from the IPCC).”
Point #2
The 40% of Ontarians who voted for you will not get what they voted for if we live on a dead planet: On a dead planet the people who voted for you will not have any business, jobs, etc.
Remember, they are only 40% of the people who voted. But you are leader of the entire province.
Point #3
The argument against the cap and trade program which complains that we are sending our money to California, this argument is invalid for the following reasons: Global warming is a global problem. Therefore as long as the cap and trade program reduces global warming anywhere on the global, it is a success. That includes California. The global climate is not isolated to Ontario or any one place. We all share that climate and we will all share the detrimental effects of climate change....or the improved health of the climate if we keep it healthy.
Point #4
The argument against the cap and trade program which says that we must cut the program in order to save the taxes of Ontario families, that argument is invalid for the following reasons: Ontario families include children. The children of those families will suffer from climate change long after the parents are dead and gone. It is THEIR climate that is changing the most.
