I have moored my boat at Flying Bridge Marina, beside the golf course, for 30 plus years. I can only speak for what I see at the bridge on Laurine rd entering the marina and the marina itself.

The bridge area is extremely sad and probably an ecological disaster. This area was beautiful and serene with water lillies, bulrushes, frogs croaking, the occasional Herron sleeping with 1 foot, tortoises, ducks, a pair of white swans etc.
An artists dream.
It’s all gone now! Just weeds in the water with an occasional turtle.

The marina had the same wildlife plus schools of minnows.
It’s all gone now! Mostly weeds surrounding the boats.

I understand the golf course needs water. My concern would be who is monitoring the intake for the catagory 1 designation. Gone are the days of the honour system.

My bigger concern, as indicated by my history in this area, is the runoff from the course. Something is obviously polluting this habitat. On the map I see a holding pond in the west(?) corner of the course. I do not see one on the east(?) side of the bridge upstream where the worst damage is evident.

If there is a guarantee on the water intake monitoring and a better ability to control the fertilizer runoff in the upper stream I would be in support of the applicant.

Lastly.
My father grew up on the Wabigoon river. (I’m sure you studied that catastrophe in school) I’ve seen this pollution before and I’ve seen the results when the ministry intervened.

Wildlife has since returned on the Wabigoon.
