As long time residents of Tyendinaga Township, we know the need for a safe, reliable source of water. Along with daily household cleaning, personal hygiene, and of course drinking, it is needed to water the garden that provides food for our family.
The proposal asking for 4,045,600 litres each and every day for 10 years is NOT ACCEPTABLE.
Taking this much water on a daily basis would have detrimental effects on the water table relied on by families for miles around. There are many farms that supply food for many in and outside of the township- they need water for their crops and livestock as well.
The thought that a private company could take this VAST amounts of water is ludicrous! Although there are jobs provided by this gravel pit, we believe the well being of an entire community should definitely take precedence.
I’m sure when the UEL family settled here, they believed a community should stand together -one business should not be allowed to destroy the resources of the rest.
Thank you for your consideration, hoping your scrutiny of all the facts results in disallowing this proposal.
