The current regime requires application and approval for the taking of more than 50,000 litres of water per day and this proposal to remove of the limit for groundwater-taking and to allow up to 379,000 litres of groundwater taken per day without permit is pure folly when water is considered to be one of earth's most precious resources particularly as we face the uncertain future of climate armageddon. Furthermore to suggest this relaxation of regulation is to be taken without local public consultation and removing the requirement to notify conservation authorities is a recipe for disaster putting the ecosystem, human health, and Ontario infrastructure at risk.
