Dear Minister,
Thank you for reversing your government's earlier decision to removed land from the Greenbelt. I fully support all sites being returned to the Greenbelt plan along with the lands proposed for addition. Paving farmland, wetlands and forests is NOT the way to reach our housing targets. Your government's own housing affordability task force has stated that more land is not needed to reach our housing targets. What is needed are zoning changes to allow multi-family dwellings, inclusionary zoning not only in Major Transit Areas, much more funding from the province to keep city owned affordable housing online and not sitting vacant due to needed repairs, funding to build social housing, a reversal of the government's decision to decrease density targets. Finally, the PC government's decision to arbitrarily expand Hamilton's and other Ontario municipalities' urban boundaries appears to have followed the same very concerning process of land selection. Urban boundary expansions also need to be reversed just as the Greenbelt removals have been.
Thank you.
