Why does our current provincial government continue to choose to do something, do it so badly that the majority are upset about their decision then reverse it again? Whether it be license plates or greenbelts we keep paying to do something then revert back to the original having wasted a bunch of tax payer dollars.
Follow the widely accepted definition and set it at 30% of household income. If you cannot get a mortgage for more than 30% why is it acceptable for a poor family to pay more than that for a rental? If you do not set affordability based on income then who it is affordable to is always up for debate.
Affordable housing should never be more than 30% of a families income and any definition above that cannot be our lowest definition or we have failed some demographic of our population.
Want to redistribute wealth to developers in the hopes the saving will trickle down to our lower/ middle class? Fine do that then but do not leave a necessity like housing without a definition that encompasses everyone's needs or many with the need for housing will be left out.
