I appreciate the current governments desire to save Ontarians money and creat and sustain jobs. Repealing the CCMLEA won't do that and will introduce a legacy of cost to the current and future generations.
Bill 4 will trigger the federal Climate Change Mitigation and Low-carbon Economy Act by repealing the CCMLEA https://www.canlii.org/…/so-2016-c-7/135629/so-2016-c-7.html so real savings will be negligible.
Rather than being creative and investing in non-carbon industry and alternative energy jobs, the Ontario government has shown what, unfortunately, is a fairly common path of providing no leadership or initiative whatever to introduce strategies to offset global warming and sustain the economy in a meaningful way. I'm also underwhelmed by Bill C4's attempt to avoid responsibility for it's decisions.
I'm disappointed but not surprised that the decision was to trade off on short term popularity rather than provide a legacy for our future generations
