I kindly request the Environmental Registry of Ontario to perform a thorough review of the activities currently taking place in the plant and the proposed expansion. The plant is adjacent to community spaces and residential areas. What are the consequences of the toxins released by the activities at the plant? We are not talking only about smells but also the residue that is release by the plant and travels with the wind to all of the surrounding area. How do the current hours of operation interfere with the quality of life of individuals in the area? What are the long term effects of this exposure? On the contrary the government should be requesting the plant to: reduce / minimize their impact on the surrounding community, implement controls to manage the residue that is produced by the plant, establish operating hours that are acceptable to the community and nearby residents, build structures/buildings that help contain and limit the exposure of toxins across the area .
Note: the health effects that the plant causes to residents poses a great risk and an added burden to the provincial health system. Is that what we want for the city? the community? and our children growing up and playing in the nearby park.
