I think it is highly irresponsible to to cancel the current cap and trade program without some sort of carbon pricing measure ready to replace it.
Curbing CO2 emissions is probably the single most impotent issue currently and no flaws in the current cap and trade program justify ending it in such a hurry and it is certainly far better then no pricing mechanism at all.
Any changes should above all be based in sound evidence as to its effects, and I think on that front that would point to the current system having a positive effect.
