Protect ALL of the remaining greenbelt. Reverse ALL parcels of land that were corruptly removed from the greenbelt. Do not let ANY municipality build on ANY greenbelt land (ex. Grimbsy). As published in Ontario nature magazine, 421 of Canada‘s 927 bee species live in Ontario and therefore the province is a critical region for pollinator conservation. They state “safeguarding healthy wild bee communities requires 11.6% to 16.7% of land to be natural (woodlands, wetlands and prairies). The Ontario government currently recommends that 4.5% of the provinces green spaces be conserved as pollinator habitat”. The province is already falling short in meeting the conservation requirements of our native pollinators which are vital to survival of the human race. Not to mention the vast number of birds and fauna that need these natural areas as habitat.
Keep your hands off the greenbelt.
