This whole situation with the greenbelt in Ancaster has been mishandled right from the beginning. It never should have been put in the greenbelt in the first place. These lands were meant for development which is why so many businesses have gone up around them. This portion of Ancaster needs homes for growing population. There are MANY people in this community who want to see these lands properly developed for many different reasons. One being the fact that we need more housing here to support the growing businesses,. Number two, with more housing comes more updated amenities that are desperately needed to support the families in this community and the ones on the way. Also, not too mention the need for spreading out traffic. The Traffic that has accumulated on Garner and Wilson is becoming unbearable! If there was more housing on the outskirts it would redirect half of the traffic and lighten the amount of drivers on the other two main roads. A lot of Ancaster residents feel this way, however it was hard to hear their voices due to the overwhelming intimidation from protestors who were bussed in from other communities such as Waterdown and Burlington. Those people never should have been able to take over the town meetings in such a manner. The developments here do not affect the lives of residents in other parts of the city. So why are their opinions affecting our community?? We should be doing what is best for Ancaster, and Ancaster NEEDS development! All you can see in this part of Ancaster are new retail businesses with run-down farm lands surrounding it. Lets have more appealing housing for families and curb appeal to support the new shopping centres and to help Ancaster maintain its reputation.
