Climate change is real and it's man-made. Putting our heads in the sand doesn't make this problem go away. The government's scrapping carbon pricing is a terrible idea. Change from industry is always going to be market and monetarily driven. The perception that carbon pricing is meant only to force people to "produce less" is inaccurate - when properly implemented, carbon pricing will drive innovation toward technologies that allow for efficient energy production with LESS EMISSIONS. That is where nay-sayers either get it wrong, or are willfully ignorant. Carbon pricing doesn't have to hurt the economy, it can (and will) lead to the growth of industries like renewable energy.
Furthermore, it's been shown that pricing on harmful emissions is effective! Globally, we worked to reduce or ban SO2 and CFC emissions (emissions that led to acid rain and ozone layer depletion, respectively). We did it then, and we can do it again as long as we commit to it and follow through.
