Reading this was very disheartening. There is a ton of work that goes into ensuring the environmental impact of something like a highway being put in is done properly. Being in the environmental field and dedicating my life to it to see something like this blows my mind especially coming from the government of Ontario. We do enough destruction we should at least be taking all necessary per cautions when doing so. This is wrong and to say it will speed things up is very untrue. With not knowing the costs of doing something like this we already know it will go into the pockets of big corporations trying to avoid what is legally responsible for them to do. This will also remove thousands of jobs from Ontario if this is “cut short”. Short cuts should not be taken lightly when you are impacting the environment. I really hope this is reconsidered and not pushed through. I cannot see a positive light to this in anyway. Do it the right way even if it takes a little longer and is slightly more expensive. You will do less destruction in the long run. So disappointing from the Ford government who usually I do side with.
