I am opposed to building on farmland around the cities of Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge. We have some of the best farmland in Canada in this area and should not be using it to build houses. This land should stay farmland. On the weekend I was visiting family in Kingston and you can see that much of the land around that area if not great farmland. This is were we should be building housing. Or what about cottage country where trees grow very well but the soil is thin and difficult to grow crops.
Where will we grow our food if we pave over all our good farmland? Will we need to import most of our food. Not being able to feed ourselves leaves us in a very vulnerable position. Hold the countryside line!
