I am opposed to Bill 162, the so-called "Get it Done Act." We must protect farmland, forests, river valleys and wetlands. Municipalities and their official plans have lands already set aside for housing development.
"Ontario is losing 319 acres of farmland every day to development and sprawl. Yet studies show that there is ample serviced or service-ready land within municipal boundaries across the province." (The Alliance for a Livable Ontario)
Furthermore, I am opposed to the removal of the authority of conservation authorities. Through decades of good stewardship, they have managed Ontario's wetlands and conservation areas for the betterment of all.
Our land, farmland, wetlands, forests, rivers and conservation areas are a legacy we must preserve, not only for ourselves but for future generations.
