Please don't do this. The IPCC report makes clear we all have to make steep cuts to GHG emissions by 2030 in order to avoid catastrophic climate change.
Industry has already adapted to the cap and trade system, and it works. This is only part of an effective carbon-pricing strategy, and much more needs to be done, but cap and trade is an important start.
Cutting GHG emissions is critical, it needs to happen now, the cuts need to be steep, and anything that moves us in the opposite direction will make the world more dangerous for our children.
The young people that will inherit this world cannot comment on this registry, they cannot vote, but their interests can't be ignored. We focus so much on keeping them safe, keeping them healthy, helping them learn. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why we don't treat climate change the same way.
Please reconsider this bill.
