Bill 185 and the provincial planning statement are the opposite of where we need to go in Ontario to make it an accessible, healthy, safe province. This bill opens the door to increased greenhouse gas emissions, increases pollution, increased biodiversity loss and decreased green space which has a direct deleterious effect on human health, planetary health, and frankly Ontarians bottom line.
Disasters related to climate change are increasing and are extremely costly. Home insurance is through the roof as a result and many citizens won’t be insurable soon.
We need to proceed with development that centres planetary health, and this is the only way forward in todays world.
