The water contamination that will be caused by this proposed landfill is a threat to the viability of commercial and recreational fishing. A common past time on the river will no longer be safe to the people spending time near the water, or the aquatic life within it. There are several species at risk including mussels, snakes, fish, and turtles. With such a diverse ecosystem including species that cannot be found elsewhere in Canada, it is so important to have an environmental assessment conducted to determine all effects of this landfill. Many people in this and surrounding communities favourite outdoor activities revolve around this body of water and those it flows into. It is reckless and irresponsible to avoid an assessment when this landfill poses such a large threat to so many aspects of our environment.
