I read in the Kitchener Record this past week that the energy sector and road usage accounts for 65% of pollution.

First - manufacturers of pollution should be responsible for the cleanup of their own products - it should not be hoisted on the general public in the form of tax dollar spend.

Second - as a society we need to stop and think about more than the almightly dollar. Now, I know that Conservative politicians in general cannot get the $$ signs out of their eyes but there is more to life than the stock market and big business making obscene amounts of money while the majority struggle daily or monthly or maybe just yearly for the good things.

Third - my taxes are my contract with my community to bring some fairness into life - supporting big business is anathema to supporting fairness.

I support carbon taxes as the best method available to curb the problems were are facing with pollution and what almost seems inevitable - the extinction of our lives as we know it. And the majority of that pollution comes from advanced societies in the developed WEST - who are impacting all parts of the world. Recently scientists are suggesting catastrophic changes becoming irreversible in less than 15 years if we do change.

SO change now. Support the right thing - do not repeal and replace.
