There needs to be an very detailed environmental assessment done before anything can happen further. I am shocked that there is even a possibility of not having one done since it is so close to town and Molly's Creek. We live just outside of Dresden on one of the main highways York1's trucks will most likely travel. We are a young family with very small children and very concerned about the increase of traffic and noise pollution this will create. There are no way our roads can handle such a huge increase in traffic.
Our children are not in school yet, but they will be going to Dresden. I am very concerned sending my children to a school where they are within 2km of a dump due to air quality concerns (methane and other gasses causing respiratory concerns) and contamination of groundwater, affecting drinking water safety.
I moved to Dresden 10 years ago and over that time it has thrived. New homes/ subdivisions being built, businesses opening up, summer & winter markets that are very successful. I feel like if this dump goes through, property values will drop, businesses will leave and all our progress will come to a halt.
The people of Dresden do not deserve this. At the very least, a detailed environmental assessment needs to be done, but the main goal for all of Dresden is to completely shut this project down. Please help protect the people of Dresden who want to enjoy their small, peaceful town.
