York1 is aware of the hazards they are posing, they know that they will not pass an environmental assessment with their proposal. They want to bypass this extremely important step in environmental preservation because they do not care about it. They are trying to use pre-existing approvals and permits from the 1980’s that do not include the expansion they intend to perform. In no way should it be legal to avoid an assessment when the current approval is for a location a fraction of the intended project size. It is sick and twisted that they are donating large amounts of money to our current government in order to slip through the cracks of the legal system. This is a scandal, and attempting to pass a new bill stating construction of a facility can begin without an environmental assessment is undeniable evidence of that. If anyone cared for this communities wellbeing this wouldn’t be a fight. I am so very disappointed that this is even a proposal, YES ABSOLUTELY WE NEED AN ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT.
