I live in the community of Dresden, and have for over 30 years. I am in disbelief and strongly oppose the possibility of a landfill being erected, on the northern edge of the town of Dresden, Ontario, that is being proposed by York1 Environmental Waste Solutions Ltd. J

Yes, they purchased the property at 29831 Irish School Road, Dresden, that used to be Waste Wood Disposal, that had old and outdated ECA numbers, from over 40 years ago. But, that does not make it a good location for a landfill. York1 has spoke of and advertised that they plan to create a Regenerative Recycling Facility, however, at their information meeting they held on March 1, 2024 at the Ken Houston Memorial Arena, I saw that they had multiple information boards, that spoke to them making a landfill, even though they kept denying it being a landfill and stating it would be a recycling facility. Based on the information and documents they have provided to MECP, to which I have seen, it all speaks to landfill, and what their plans are.

I have attached a screenshot of Minister Khanjin's X post on March 15th, where she stated that she would take the steps to require this project to complete a comprehensive environmental assessment. I feel that this means that an EA will be required before any work is done. Also to note, this property is not zoned as landfill, and has not been. It is zoned M2-365, industrial, and was only ever permitted to landfill 95% incinerator fly ash, from the town's old incinerator, and was only permitted to accept 75 tonnes per day, and allowed to have 75 tonnes on the property. York1's proposal is calling for 6000 tonnes per day, and operating 24/7, 365 days per year.

This property is far too close to Dresden, which is a historic quaint town of nearly 3000 people. This property is not a good fit for either a regenerative recycling facility or a landfill. With photos provided, you can clearly see how close it is to town. And, you can see that Molly's Creek borders the property to the east, and 4th Concession Drain which is on the south side of the property draining into Molly's Creek and both drain into the Sydenham River, which flows through Tupperville and to Wallaceburg and Walpole Island. With their proposal to drain wastewater into Molly's Creek, and with all the endangered species in Molly's Creek and Sydenham (which has been identified as a river at risk), this location is not a good location for a landfill.

We do not want a landfill. We do not want a recycling facility at this address. It is far too close to town...due to above reasons. Since the Minister has stated that there has never been an environmental assessment completed (because the property predated any requirement for an environmental assessment), we want to see a full comprehensive environmental assessment be completed.
