This policy is so characteristic of MNRF and other government agencies trying to keep everyone satisfied by implementing a complicated bureaucracy relying on compliance by people who don't care. Our world is so filled with promotion and education efforts to get across messages to people about things that are only a small portion of their lives. These people are already inundated by messages of promotion and education about thinks that are a big part of thei lives. We are SATURATED!

Even if 90 percent of people complied, it only takes a few to make the environmental damag oh speak of occur.

People will comply if they believe in the effort or expect to get caught and punished. The enforcement of this policy is IMPOSSIBLE! You now have lost a major influence in gaining compliance with the policy.

Many jurisdictions have global baitfish bans. Others limit the use of baitfish to that which is caught and used in the same waterbody.

Possession or transport of live baitfish...or any baitfish will be far more successful in preventing an environmental disaster, but it will greatly reduce the commercial baitfish industry.

You CANNOT have it both ways and as a fisherman who appreciates the value of baitfish for successful fishing, I would gladly give up the use of baitfish, or accept strict limitations on use in same waterbody and transport, in order to do my part to protect our environment. I would expect that you would take your heads out of the sand and behave like responsible stewards of Ontario's natural resources, paid by my taxes, and take whatever difficult steps are necessary to prevent environmental disaster.
