Sharing the following concerns regarding the proposed development at Weston and Langstaff:
-the undemocratic nature of using a MZO to push the development plan through
- Members of Council that voted to approve the use of a MZO neglected to be accountable to the Citizens of Vaughan , by denying the people the right to participate ina public consultation process
- the voices of city planners and environmental experts has been ignored
- the use of the MZO undermines Ontario’s long- established procedures for community planning
- question the negative impact of the urban intensification in this area as it will impact the immediate and future community in the areas of:
-community safety response plan
- adequate services to be able to provide inclusive services and accommodations as required
-inability of first responders to respond to emergencies in a timely manner due to added vehicular and pedestrian congestion
-necessary access to K-12 schooling without adding additional capacity limits to York Region schools and ensuring youth are able to reach school within an acceptable distance
-necessary studies to evaluate environmental Justice systems are in place
-ability of citizens to access medical care, without undue strain on present facilities
-traffic congestion created by increases vehicular traffic, in a city where public transportation is not always readily available
- road infrastructures to handle increase in traffic chaos
- lack of green spaces for proposed new development
-strain on already overcrowded community resources: community centres, libraries, public spaces
