There is no trapping that is humane. No snaring that is humane. The number of bycatch is staggering.
For every intentional catch statistically 26 other animals die. Domestic pets also die in snares/traps. You know this.
Why do you still support this outdated cruel practice?
Why do you support (with taxpayer dollars) a handful (population wise) of trappers and those that profit at fur auctions?
The majority of people appose this practice and the fur trade.
The money could be better spent on education and how to coexist.
You need to protect out dwindling wildlife and wild space not look at only the $ value.
It is disgraceful the life of a beautiful creature like a wolf is like 8-12$
You should be ashamed.
I have witnessed first hand the suffering caused by trapping/ snaring unfortunately several time. I have rescue a young Algonquin wolf from a snare he was in for days. I have and know people who lost pets in snares/ traps. I have seen snares/ traps on edges of public trails.
This needs to end not be modified.
