This is wonderful news. HWIN has long time needed to go paperless. -Yes I am in accordance with the proposed changes outlined on the Modernizing Hazardous Waste Reporting in Ontario document.
-The website also needs significant improvement to payment making. I come from a Waste management industry that firsthand manages nearly 600+ HWIN accounts for multiple Retailers. It is very time consuming to need to log into every single one of the accounts to pay annual registration fees and manifest fees. It would be hugely beneficial to have a monthly pre-authorization payment taken from the registered credit card on account.
- Secondly, the waste class registration process is a bit overwhelming for some people (This is the reason my company manages, as per contract, the HWIN accounts for Retailers). Anything that can be done to modernize or simplify this process would be a good addition.
-Reporting data should be available for a 2 year period, same as manifest record keeping. PDF version is preferred for electronic manifests
- Referring to 7a. on the Modernizing document, the ministry should NOT allow for different forms of shipped quantity to be reported. In my opinion would complicate the process, less traceability. How would tonnage be calculated.
