I am not supportive of this proposal!

I have a daughter with a disability. The equity in our home is needed to pay for her care (ODSP doesn't come close!) when we are no longer around. We are extremely worried about what this facility would do to property values in the vicinity of the plant given the expected pollutants and especially the odour of sulphur dioxide emissions and the smell of rotting waste travelling along residential streets.

There are already too many transport trucks driving right by my house to other industrial sites along Coronation and at the foot of Manse of Road. An expected 20-fold increase in trucks, is just not acceptable! It's too dangerous given there is no way to get to the facility without passing through residential areas and down Morningside where there are numerous schools, community centres, parks, etc. along the routes and cyclists using the waterfront bicycle trails. There are currently "No Heavy Trucks, 7:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M." signs at Morningside and Coronation, and Lawrence and Manse Road, that are regularly ignored. If trucks will be travelling 24 hours a day, our sleep will be disrupted.

In addition, the Alzheimer Society of Canada suggests that people who live within 50m of a busy road have increased risk of developing dementia as a result of vehicle pollution. My house is within 50m of Coronation Street.

This kind of facility, along with the associated traffic, needs to be located in an area in which it is not necessary to travel along residential streets and where the noise and odours emanating from the plant will disturb homeowners and reduce residential property values.
