I feel that the Ontario government has overstepped regarding the undemocratic use of MZO’s on environmentally sensitive lands. I cannot believe that the use of MZO's has become such an authoritarian and autocratic process- I cannot imagine why the government would do anything to exclude consultation and not provide fair minded processes?
The Minister must find a way to amend or change this draconian rule or many Ontarian's will lose faith in our government!
It takes the power away from elected municipal councils – and therefore from the local citizenry – and hands it over the Minister and the Province.
This controversial tool – MZO's -threatens the environment and democracy itself!
I am saddened and worried about the implications of this process for our future!
