The Township of Cavan Monaghan does not support the current mapping of prime agricultural lands because of the level of detail provided and the inaccuracies of the mapping. Accurate mapping is required.
The Township requests clarification on what is considered a "large area" of existing, permitted non-agricultural land uses that cannot be rehabilitated to agriculture. How does the Township protect and expand rural employment areas given the proposed mapping?

Was the prime agricultural area mapping of the Township of Cavan Monaghan (January 2015) used to lead the identification of prime agricultural areas in the Agricultural System mapping?
The time frame between the Ministry training session on September 12 and the deadline for comments of October 4 is too short to provide a thorough review, discussion and comment on the proposal.
The Township would like to see lot and concession information on the mapping to help with implementation. As presented, the mapping is difficult to read.
How can a Municipality meet their obligations under Section 1.1.2 of the Provincial Policy Statement (PPS) when the proposed Agricultural System and Natural Heritage System mapping provide little to no flexibility for the expansion of rural settlement areas.
The Township supports the provision of agricultural information through the mapping portal. The information is valuable for planning and economic development activities.
The Township requests provincial funding to help the Township address minor amendments to the agricultural system mapping that may be required at the time of implementation (i.e. official plan preparation).
