Comment 2: The Environmental Impact on Wildlife.
The proponents planning justification report concludes - No negative impacts to significant natural features and functions on the site or adjacent lands. (2(a) page 13 - PPS.)
Residing within the boundary of the 120 meter study area identified on the proponents maps, our property contains 58 acres of Provincially Significant Wetland registered with the CLTIP Program for many years and we are proud stewards of the Environment.
We are concerned that the proposed below water aggregate pit activity estimated to continue for 5-10 years will bring unacceptable noise and vibration as well as cumulative dust which will settle on surrounding forest, wetlands and properties. This concern is based on past lived experience of noise and dust from the adjacent South pit and road which was 500 meters away and now this new pit is proposed to operate 30 meters from the Environmentally protected area and homes within 120 meters and beyond. This cumulative dust, which will no doubt contain silica, is harmful to human health and no doubt to plants animals and birds as well as it will settle on surrounding areas.
