This shameless destruction…

This shameless destruction of the Greenbelt should NOT proceed. I am completely opposed to any changes that will allow for development of this environmentally significant land. The proposed amendments have nothing to do with housing. We don't need more sprawl, we need better use of the lands that are already designated for housing. We are in the middle of an environmental crisis: to chip away at what little land we have protected is completely wrong-headed and ignores the science that clearly states we need to protect these lands, not build on them. This bill is just one more example of the Ontario government denying the urgency of the environmental crisis facing us all at this time. It is a false equation to say that this greenbelt land will be replaced by "other" land, just as it is a false equation to say that the only solution to the housing crisis is to build on the Greenbelt.
