As we see the devastating effects of climate change becoming more severe year after year, and the growing challenge of food insecurity facing 15.9% of Canadian households (16.1% of Ontario households), how can it make any sense to allow developers to build on the very land that helps to protect Canadians from both of these threats?

Ontario voted in a government that promised that the Greenbelt land would remain protected. It defies democracy, and lays bare the greed of the current Conservative government, to allow Bill 23 to proceed.

The people of Ontario do not want the current Greenbelt land developed and destroyed. Bill 23 is a short-term cash grab that threatens the long-term health, well-being and safety of Ontarians.

The Conservative government should be ashamed.
