I support this initiative. I am not an Ontario resident but will be moving there in the summer of 2025. Anything that gets more tags in the hands of hunters who want to hunt is a positive step in my opinion. I can only assume that science supports the number of tags available each year and in order to have a healthy sustainable moose population it is equally important to have those tags issued. I don't know the success rate of hunters in Ontario but I assume it would be in the 65%-70% range, consistent with other jurisdictions in the country that have healthy moose populations. Unclaimed tags do nothing to help support a sustainable moose hunt and moose population. If this doesn't work, try something else, but at least keep trying.
