Decades of research has found that removing bike lanes will not reduce congestion, as many of those biking will switch to driving and contribute to congestion. All this will do is make it harder to bike (safety concerns are the top detterant to cycling in Canadian cities), and leave those who continue to cycle more vulnerable to injury and death.
