Not everyone commutes by car, and roads should be safe for vulnerable users (I.e., cyclists) too. One bike means one less car on the road. I use the Bloor, Yonge and University lanes on a regular basis, and feel safe doing so. Even with the dedicated lanes, I encounter aggressive drivers parked in the lanes. Every single time. I could only imagine their aggressiveness towards cyclists when cyclists take the lane on these major roads (as allowed by law).
