As a person who chooses to cycle to work (because it is faster and more affordable than both driving and transit), the improvements to cycling infrastructure in Toronto over the past few years have been instrumental in keeping me safe, reducing congestion, and helping me get to work on time.
There is no serious evidence that bike lanes create congestion, and even if there were, major corridors in Toronto need to work and be safe for everyone: bikers, pedestrians, drives, transit users, disabled folks and more.
The province should not interfere in municipal affairs like bike lanes. It's an embarrassment, it's pandering for votes, it's bad policy not grounded in reality, and most importantly - it will directly lead to avoidable Ontarian deaths all to win votes from suburbanites who think it'll make their drive 5 minutes faster. Please do not pass this.
