As someone who travels by both car and bicycle, I have only seen positive impacts from implementation of bike lanes in my community-- areas where slower-moving bicycles are separated from car traffic, in my experience, face less interruptions to the flow of traffic than ones where drivers need to slow down for bikes mixing with car traffic.
I am deeply concerned at the proposal to increase the burden on municipalities to justify and seek approval on their own decisions, and limit the action local governments can take; particularly from a party that claims to be against government overreach and excessive red tape.
