The city should have autonomy to decide what is best to balance cyclist safety with motorist mobility. The proposed plan will result in less evidence-based decision-making and decrease public safety, specifically leading to more cyclist injuries and deaths. It is important to note that bike lanes do not increase traffic congestion. They actually ease it according to research (see attached CBC link). Let the city planners do their jobs and stop playing politics with people's lives.
