If anything, removing bike lanes will create more traffic with vehicles having to slow down behind cyclists at certain points in roads. Removing bike lanes also makes cycling less accessible, and less accessibility to cycling makes it harder for those who do not drive or do not have accessible public transit to get to their destinations such as work or school. If anything removing bike lanes would provide negative impacts to the environment by using machinery to remove said lanes, causing detours and more time spent on the road by vehicles. All in all, it makes sense to just leave the bike lanes in place. Bike lanes help reduce traffic and create a safe place for cyclists on the road.
