Removing bike lanes in order to add more traffic lanes for cars and other such vehicles is the opposite of what's needed to reduce gridlock. adding more vehicle lanes will likely only induce even more traffic which will cause even more gridlock and more travel delays.
A balance between large vehicles and bikes is what should be struck instead of focusing even harder on what is a car-centric society.
