Preventing or removing bike lanes is a colossal leap backwards for this province. Ontario has lagged behind in biking infrastructure compared to other provinces and states in North America. To remove what had taken years to complete is an utter disappointment. We should be investing more to make our commutes safer and environmentally friendly. I fail to see a reason as to why this even needs to be debated on. If we want to prevent gridlock, removing bike lanes will categorically make things worse. Having these lanes increases peace of mind and will make more commuters feel safer to bike. I’m appalled this is even up for contention.
