Bill 4 does not address the climate crisis we have on hand and seriously puts us behind in our flight to address this oncoming disaster. The public deserves to have a climate plan, one that is fair and one that the people can understand. We are missing an opportunity to move to the next level economically by not investing in the global clean economy.
The public will embrace pricing pollution if it is seen as fair and understandable. There are many models available and it does not have to be a tax grab, like the current government is saying. It can be entirely revenue neutral. But, the polluters should pay, and enough to hopefully modify their behavior and business practices.
The people of Ontario deserve a real climate plan that will shift us towards being carbon neutral within the next few decades. Without this, there are too many studies which address the oncoming climate disaster. It is shocking how the government is allowed to be so cavalier about this.
