Bike lanes on Bloor St., Yonge St., and University Ave are critical fornthe safety of riders and should not be removed. Bike rider concentrations are high in denser parts of the city and are highly utilized. Opening those areas for cars will not reduce gridlock, the volume of cars is simply too high, with too many stoplights.
Further, the provicial government is overreaching by getting involved in minor Municipal matters like bike lanes. The provincial government does not have a good enough understanding or knowledge on the daily traffic functions of a city, and should not involve itself.
