I am a motorist who drive regularly on the streets identified for bike lane removal. This is a bad idea. As noted by the Annex BIA and in the research evidence on the subject, bike lanes contribute to economic development and have no or a negligible impact on commute times for motorists. Bike lanes are also safer for all involved, particularly road users on bikes. This government has lost its way with its obsession on meddling in municipal politics. I will not be voting for the Conservative government in the next election if this type of myopic policy remains their fixation.
